Jira Test Case Generator – AI QA Test Cases From Tickets

Use our Jira test case generator to turn Jira tickets into structured test cases in one click. Enter one or more ticket IDs, fetch summary and acceptance criteria, and get AI-generated cases (Functional, UI, API, Negative) ready for export to CSV, Excel, or Jira Test Issue format.

A Jira test case generator bridges the gap between your backlog and test design. Instead of copying ticket text into spreadsheets or writing test cases by hand, you connect your Jira issue to an AI test case generator and receive ready-to-use scenarios. AutomationTekAI fetches the ticket via the Jira REST API, extracts title, description, acceptance criteria, and priority, then sends that context to AI to generate test cases automatically. The result is a set of test cases with IDs, steps, expected results, and test type—aligned to your existing automation test cases workflow.

What is Jira-based test case generation?

Jira-based test case generation means creating QA test cases directly from Jira issues (stories, bugs, or epics). The tool reads the issue's summary and description—including acceptance criteria when available—and produces test cases that trace back to the ticket. Our Jira test case generator supports bulk: paste multiple ticket IDs and generate test cases for all in one run.

Why it matters

Manual test design from Jira tickets is slow and can miss edge or negative cases. An AI-driven test case generator for Jira speeds up sprint planning and ensures consistent structure. Teams using QA automation tools often need cases that can later be turned into Selenium or API tests; our output includes types (Functional, UI, API, Negative) to support that.

Common scenarios

  • Sprint planning: generate test cases for all stories in a sprint from their Jira keys.
  • Regression: add new test cases from bug or story tickets and keep them in Jira.
  • Traceability: maintain a direct link between Jira issue and test cases.

Automation examples

The test cases you get can be used as the basis for automation test script generator flows: map steps to Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress. Many users export to CSV, then feed that into their test automation framework or into Jira as Test issues.

Generate Test Cases From Jira Ticket(s)

Enter one or more Jira ticket IDs. We'll fetch the issue(s) and generate QA test cases with AI.

One ID per line, or comma-separated. Example: PROJ-123

Leave blank to use organization Jira (if configured on the server).

How it works

  1. Enter your Jira ticket ID(s), e.g. PROJ-123. You can paste multiple IDs (one per line or comma-separated).
  2. Optionally set Jira Base URL, Email, and API Token. If omitted, server defaults (env) are used.
  3. Click "Fetch Ticket(s) & Generate Test Cases". We fetch the issue via Jira REST API and extract title, description, acceptance criteria, and priority.
  4. Our AI generates structured test cases: ID, title, preconditions, steps, expected result, priority, and type (Functional / UI / API / Negative).
  5. Export results as CSV, Excel, Jira Test Issue format (for import into Jira), or copy as Markdown.

Jira setup

Use a Jira Cloud site (e.g. your-domain.atlassian.net). Create an API token at id.atlassian.com and use your Jira account email with that token. If you get permission or "not found" errors, check that the ticket exists and your account has access.

Error handling

We handle invalid ticket IDs, Jira API rate limits, and permission errors. If a ticket is private or you don't have access, you'll see a clear message. For bulk input, we continue with tickets we can fetch and report any that failed.
